Understanding ETFs

We’re told ETFs are mutual funds that trade like stocks. Impossible. “40 Act” mutual funds must be redeemable. ETFs are not. They’re stock substitutes fostering arbitrage – profiting on different prices for ETFs and the stocks they represent.
